Hello, we are the Anderson family, we are an international couple who have a desire to make a difference in the country of Ukraine.
Joshua is Canadian born in Haldimand-Norfolk in Ontario and Anastasiia is a Ukrainian, born and raised in Ternopil Ukraine.
We serve in Ternopil Ukraine with an organization called YWAM (Youth with a Mission). YWAM is an international public organization that works all over the globe operating in missionary and NGO-related work. YWAM Ternopil is the location we call home.
We have been serving with YWAM for a Decade. We have
been serving full time in country from 2016- present.

YWAM operates in many different theaters and has always been a driving force in global missions for the last 60+ years. We personally like to explain our ministry and work into three categories.Â
1. Mercy ministry: (Feeding the poor) A big reason for any public organization existing is to meet a specific need within a country or community. We try to serve the homeless, the poor and the displaced (refugees) within our city. Before joining missions, Joshua had a career as a chef and now those culinary skills are put to work serving those in need within our city. We have weekly feeding programs where we share the word of God, serve some delicious food, and fellowship with those that society often overlooks. The goal is to offer help to those who need freedom from addiction and to offer hope in a dark world, showing Christ as best as we can.
2. Teaching: (youngChristians and bringing hope to anation at war) YWAM is a Christian organization and as such we place a lot of value on the idea of equipping the body of Christ through sound teaching. YWAM runs multiple schools andseminars every year, but one in-particular is our favourite. Itscalled DTS (Discipleship TrainingSchool) a six month training program designed to teach the basics of our faith, the character of the Father, and our identity as his sons and daughters. The program also has an outreachportion where we take theknowledge we have gathered andgo into the world to share what weknow with others. We have been running this school since November of 2023 and have no plans to stop being directors in the near future.
We often have refuges who have been displaced by the war in Ukraine joining our schools as students; we pray the war ends soon but until that time we do what we can to bring hope.
3. Hospitality: (trying to love people likeJesus did) Ternopil is strategically located close to both the Polish and Romanian border, this makes it a natural stopping point for anyone wishing to travel deeper into the country as air travel is impossible at this moment. With the war we have teams who come and go, we have missionaries who passthrough on their way to the front lines to share the good news, and we have the missionaries who stay in Ukraine every day serving in the east, central and western Ukraine. We try to make time to be hospitable to these teams, and to never forget to take care of those in our own house (Staff care). Jesus took care of the crowds but he also took care of his disciples. He loved everyone and tried to make time for them when they were in need.
We try to follow his example, to open our home to travellers and to co workers whenever we can. Staff care is also one of our primary ways we serve the YWAM base.

Feeding the poor, Discipling young Christians, bringing hope to a nation at war, and trying to love people the way Jesus did.
